HSCNI Doctor Jobs

Formed in 1948, the Health and Social Care (HSC) service is a publicly funded organisation which is freely available on a daily basis to all 1.8 million citizens of Northern Ireland, as well as those living in the United Kingdom. Similar in design to the NHS, HSC is also able to offer additional social care services.

HSC offers flexible working opportunities for doctors and currently runs around 350 GP practices across the province. The service also offers an abundance of healthcare roles, including jobs in dentistry, professional and technical allied health, social care and nursing and midwifery, with the latter employing well over 18,000 people.

HSCNI Trusts

At present, there are a total of six HSC Trusts, each of which provides integrated health and social care services across Northern Ireland:

  • Belfast Health and Social Care Trust (Belfast)
  • South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust (Down, Newtownards and Lisburn)
  • Northern Health and Social Care Trust (Coleraine, Larne, Antrim, Ballymena and Cookstown)
  • Southern Health and Social Care Trust (Dungannon, Armagh, Craigavon, Banbridge and Newry)
  • Western Health and Social Care Trust (Londonderry, Limavady, Strabane, Omagh and Fermanagh)
  • Northern Ireland Ambulance Service Trust (covering all of Northern Ireland)

In addition, HSC also boasts strong links with local universities and colleges, namely Queen’s University, Belfast and the University of Ulster, and was recently awarded a role as one of five UK regional centres of excellence.
