Global Medics is seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Adult Rehabilitation Mental Health Services. This is a permanent position based in Sydney area.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced psychiatrist to contribute to high‑quality, recovery‑oriented care within one of NSW's most diverse and rapidly growing regions.
Adult rehabilitation psychiatry in this Local Health District sits within the subacute in‑ward rehabilitation services, which focus on recovery, functional improvement, and independent living skills for adults with ongoing mental health needs.
The LHD operates rehabilitation and non‑acute units across 4 sites, supported by community teams across the district.
Key clinical duties include:
- Conduct psychiatric assessments, diagnostic formulations, and treatment planning for adults in subacute rehabilitation units.
- Provide evidence‑based treatment focusing on symptom stabilisation, functional improvement, and relapse prevention.
- Support patients to regain skills for independent living after an acute episode, including managing new or changing mental health conditions and daily functioning.
- Facilitate therapeutic programs promoting wellbeing, independence, and quality of life.
Essential Selection Criteria:
- Coming from the UK - Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), awarded under any RCPsych curriculum from August 2007 to date following satisfactory completion of a General Medical Council or Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board approved specialty training program in psychiatry in the United Kingdom.
- Other Countries - Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent. Holds a substantially comparable outcome of RANZCA assessment.
- Demonstrated clinical skills and experience working with mental health problems in Adult Mental Health
- Demonstrated experience and ability to work effectively as part of multi-disciplinary team
