This timeline can be as short as possible or as long as necessary, depending on IMC registration, document collection, hospital interview dates and visa processing. Stamp 4 allows you to live and work in Ireland without needing an employment permit, giving you the freedom to work with any employer or take up locum roles.
Stamp 1G is typically granted to those who have completed studies or are transitioning from a Critical Skills Employment Permit, and may also allow locum work depending on individual circumstances.
Doctors who begin their career in Ireland on a Critical Skills Employment Permit or General Employment Permit may become eligible for Stamp 4 after two years of continuous employment in eligible posts (e.g. SHO, Registrar, Consultant).
