Position: Consultant Child Psychiatrist
Location: South Eastern Melbourne
Contract: Permanent Part time

The Position:
We are currently looking for a dynamic and experienced psychiatrist for a part-time consultant psychiatrist position in our clients Perinatal and Infant Inpatient Unit. In this role you will be leading a multidisciplinary team on a 6-bed inpatient unit, 6 mothers and 6 infants, where you will be managing the mental health needs of pregnant women and mothers of infant children who require inpatient treatment. You will oversee the inpatient management of a wide variety of conditions including post-partum depression, post-partum psychosis, patients suffering with personality disorders and those who have a history of trauma. The successful candidate will be required to supervise junior and senior child psychiatry trainees, as this is a senior Medical Position and carries with it the professional responsibilities of clinical leadership, teaching and training as well as administrative requirements.

The Hospital:
Our client is comprised of an impressive array of different healthcare providers that include seven public hospitals, 21 community health sites, five aged care facilities, university affiliated international research and tertiary education. They provide healthcare for the entire lifespan from pre-birth to palliative care and all stages in between, and have recently opened a new 230-bed children's hospital. The hospital you will be based is a 640-bed teaching and research hospital of international standing that provides a comprehensive range of specialist surgical, medical and allied health services to the community, alongside mental health services.

The Area:
Known for being one of the largest centres of science, technology and research in Australia, this town is located only 20 minutes from Melbourne's CBD, in the south-eastern suburbs and contains the highest density of high technology industries in Victoria. With a population of over 20,000 people, this area of Melbourne is extremely multicultural which is evident in its restaurants and cafes. There is a wide variety to choose from along the towns' main shopping strip including Australian, Mexican, Mediterranean, Vietnamese, Middle Eastern, Thai, Indian etc. This town is situated only 20 minutes from Brighton Beach and has multiple parks, sporting fields and nature reserves. There is also a train station which makes getting around the suburban and rural areas of Victoria a lot easier.

Eligibility Criteria:
" Australia/NZ: Must hold FRANZCP and be eligible for Specialist registration with AHPRA
" UK/Ireland: Must hold MRCPsych / FRCPsych plus UK Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more
" USA: Must hold Certificate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more
" Canada: Must hold Fellowship in Psychiatry or Certificate in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more
" Other qualifications can of course be assessed on a case-by-case basis. For those unable to work at Consultant level, there are multiple opportunities to take advantage of at Senior Medical Officer and Registrar level.
