Position: Psychiatry - Staff Specialist (Unit Clinical Director)
Location: Northern Sydney
Contract: Permanent Part time - up to 32 hours

The Position:
We are currently seeking a Unit Clinical Director in Psychiatry for a client located in the Northern Sydney Health District. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with local hospitals to provide seamless clinical care to the wider community. This position is also responsible for providing leadership and oversight of senior and junior community medical workforce, clinical governance, clinical quality and safety, clinical key performance indicators, the implementation and evaluation of clinical service plans and models of care, best practice clinical care (including ECT, psychological, psychosocial and pharmacological interventions), system improvements to ensure the highest quality of care and safety for consumers. You will participate in the after-hours on-call roster and will be allocated 2 sessions for managerial duties, 5 sessions for structured clinical activities as well as one session for teaching and educational activities.

The Centre:
This health centre provides a comprehensive range of community mental health services for adults and older people in coastal Northern Sydney. This includes community mental health care for adults and older people, assertive outreach services and mental health liaison services for other hospitals in the area. Their services offer specialised, comprehensive care coordination for people aged anywhere from 18 to 65 years, who have a serious mental illness or are significantly affected by mental health problems including schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, acute psychosis, major depression and anxiety disorders. The multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychiatric registrars, psychologists, occupational therapists, registered nurses and social workers assess, treat, counsel and educate their patients about mental illness and referral to other appropriate agencies and programs.

The Area:
Located approximately 15km north of the Sydney CBD, it is only a short commute to all of the stunning northern beaches, making it the perfect location for the summer months. Home to over 250,000 people, there's no end to activities and things to do here like council events and festivals, arts and culture, the beaches, boating, parks and trails, rockpools, swimming pools and sports and recreation. There is a large sporting presence with this area being home to multiple sporting clubs including rugby league, rugby union, cricket and soccer. There are also a plethora of schools nearby including primary, high, K-12, tertiary and international, making this area of Sydney very attractive for young families and couples.

Eligibility Criteria:
" Australia/NZ: Must hold FRANZCP and be eligible for Specialist registration with AHPRA
" UK/Ireland: Must hold MRCPsych / FRCPsych plus UK Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more
" USA: Must hold Certificate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more
" Canada: Must hold Fellowship in Psychiatry or Certificate in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more
" Other qualifications can of course be assessed on a case-by-case basis. For those unable to work at Consultant level, there are multiple opportunities to take advantage of at Senior Medical Officer and Registrar level.
