Position: Emergency Medicine RMO
Location: North West QLD
Contract: Fixed Term - Ending in December 2020
Salary: QLD Award + Location Allowance

The Position:
We are currently assisting a health service in Queensland to find a full time RMO, for a fixed term contract until the end of 2020. This role will mainly be based in the hospital's Emergency Department with the possibility of rotations in additional areas and will suit a medical practitioner in their first to third years of clinical practice. The Emergency Department is a well-equipped rural ED accredited with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) for training in Emergency Medicine, so the role would be well suited to a candidate seeking a career specialty in this field.

The Hospital:
This hospital is the major referral centre for a number of country and community hospitals, remote health facilities and clinics in the North West region of Queensland. It is a Level 4 Specialist Services Base Hospital that has a Royal Flying Doctor Service base for rural retrievals, transfers and other primary health care activities. With a total of 80 beds, this hospital and health service are known for their supportive culture as they provide health services to an area of approximately 300,000 square kilometres. Due to the large area it services, the hospital/health service has a range of services, including ICU, Mental Health, Paediatrics, O&G, Palliative Care along with many visiting services. The Emergency Department sees approximately 28,000 to 32,000 presentations per annum.

The Area:
With a population of 20,000 people representing over 50 nationalities, this regional city is known for its unique cosmopolitan flavour and is affectionately referred to as the oasis of the outback. It is the largest centre in outback Australia and is home to one of the most productive mines in the world. Known for its supportive community, it has regular sporting events and the largest rodeo competition in the southern hemisphere. Situated in the Selwyn ranges, this town is perfect of lovers of the outdoors, with regular fishing competitions, stunning sunsets and spectacular 4-wheel drive tracks. There are daily flights to Brisbane, Cairns and Townsville along with rail and bus services.

Eligibility Criteria:
Current AHPRA registration as a Medical Practitioner
Successful completion of internship
