About the Health Service:
This multi-disciplinary health service provides assistance to a growing population of over 44,000 across the region. This long-established hospital has 51 acute beds (including 3 high dependency beds), 20 bed sub-acute ward, a modern theatre suite, an emergency department, a 5 bed short stay unit, palliative care and maternity services. Day services include a 9 bed day procedure unit, a 10 chair oncology/ medical ambulatory day unit and a 9 chair dialysis unit. The health service also comprises a 90 bed aged care facility, a full range of allied health services, medical outpatient services, home based services, community health and a CBD campus offering access to maternity care and medical imaging services.
About the Emergency Deparment:
The department has been recently expanded to include a 5 bed Short Stay Unit and an Emergency Nurse Practitioner operating out of a fast track treatment area. Medical staffing is comprised of SMO's with support from 3 GP Registrars, 3 HMO's and 3 interns on rotation. Additional support in Anaesthetics and Obstetrics is provided by the GP VMO community.
1. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (or equivalent).
2. General or specialist registration with AHPRA and the Medical Board of Australia.
3. Competence in advanced life support techniques, advanced paediatric life support techniques and advanced airway management.
4. Undertaking of continuing medical education activities relevant to the practice of Emergency Medicine. 5. Australian health care experience.
