We are currently assisting a health service in Queensland to find a Cardiology PHO for the 2020 training year. This role is a newly established position and is well supported by 3 Cardiology Consultants, and multiple juniors.
This position is based at the main hospital in the region which is a 300-bed referral centre. As one of the sites of the University of Queensland Rural Clinical Schools, this hospital is actively involved in the teaching of medical students. Their focus on growing their own medical workforce has resulted in an active Medical Education Unit which places a large focus on Registrar training. This health service provides a wide range of services, including, EM, General Medicine, Cardiology, Nephrology, Palliative Care, Mental Health, Rehab, Geriatrics, Paediatrics, General Surgery, ENT, Urology, ICU, Anaesthesia, O&G and Orthopaedics, among many more.
This region is approximately 600km from Brisbane. There are regular flights to Brisbane which only take one hour. The city is one of the oldest cities in Queensland and has a population of over 80,000. It is the industrial and agricultural centre of the north and is also a large tourist destination due to its proximity to the coast. If you are looking to get a taste for tropical Australia this is an amazing location to have as a base. This region boasts some of the most pristine beaches found anywhere in the world.
