Position: Staff Specialist - Palliative Care
Location - Tasmania
Contract - ASAP, permanent, full time contract
Salary - TAS Award + generous package/benefits

The Position:

We are currently assisting one of the hospitals in Tasmania to recruit a Staff Specialist in Palliative Care, to commence as soon as possible. In addition to providing advice to both families and clients, you will be consulting and providing a superior level of palliative care. You will be expected to participate in the day-to-day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients within the hospital and wider region. As this hospital is a university hospital and accredited for BPT training, you will be encouraged to be involved in teaching of all levels. Working alongside primary and specialist health services is also a key part of the role, in order to provide continuous effective care. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in promoting research around palliative care to improve evidence-based research. The medicine department is accredited for Level 2 BPT.

The Hospital:

The position is based at a 300-bed hospital in beautiful Tasmania. The hospital treats over 24,000 inpatients a year, and over 225,000 outpatients. Home to one of the Clinical Schools for the University of Tasmania, this hospital is accredited for teaching by many of the Australasian colleges. It is involved in many research and innovation projects.

The Location:

This riverside city is home to a population of over 80,000 people. This city is known for its spectacular architecture, food and wine making it a lively tourist centre with tourist numbers increasing steadily in recent years. It is home to several museums and galleries meaning culture is alive and well in this regional city. As Tasmania is known as the 'natural state,' there is also no shortage of outdoor activities to enjoy.

In order to apply for this role, you must be a FAChPM or equivalent. If you have completed training in the UK, Ireland, Canada, the US or NZ, we would also be interested to hear from you.
