Position: Principal House Officer Ophthalmology
Location: Central QLD
Contract: Six month fixed term - August 2019 - February 2020
Salary Package: up to $132,711.42 pa as per QLD Award

The Position:

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Ophthalmology PHO to work with our client in a Central Queensland location. Joining an established team of 6 VMO'S, you'll work effectively under the guidance of the Staff Specialist to deliver high quality medical care to the local population.

The Hospital

The 305-bed facility is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland, serving a population of over 250,000.

The hospital has a wide range of specialist services available, including: Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Geriatric Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Intensive Care and Anaesthetics.

The Location:
Located on the coast of Central Queensland, with regular flights to Brisbane which only take one hour. It is one of the oldest cities in Queensland and has a population of over 80,000. It is the industrial and agricultural centre of the north and is also a large tourist destination due to its proximity to the Capricorn Coast.

This region boasts some of the most pristine beaches found anywhere in the world and is known for being one of the gateways to the Great Barrier Reef.

This area offers an all year-round tropical climate with access to islands, waterways, national parks and beaches providing infinite opportunities for outdoor and recreational activities. The wider area is rich with cultural events from Opera to River Festival.

The Health Service:
This hospital is part of a network which is regarded as one of the best performing public health organisations in Queensland. It provides care to the local population which is approximately 250,000 and has a growth rate of 1.5%. The health service is made up of several hospitals including one base hospital and several smaller hospitals.

To be eligible for this role, you must have current registration with AHPRA. Along with this, you'll have prior experience in Ophthalmology at SHO level.
