Salary Package: Up to $425,000 depending on experience

In this role you would be supporting the Director of Medicine to provide high quality care, organisation and management. This team consists of 11 other Specialists (sub-specialists included). It is well supported by 16 Registrars/PHO, 8 RMOs and 9 interns. The Medicine Department at this hospital also provides services to the regional hospitals in the area. The department has 32 Medical beds, 8 short-term beds, 5 coronary care beds and 9 palliative care. There are also out-patient clinics each week. The current sub-specialties provided are: Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care, Geriatrics, Rehab, Gastroenterology and Diabetes.
This hospital has 305 beds and is the main referral hospital in Central Queensland, serving a population of over 250,000. It is also home to the new integrated cancer care service. The Central Queensland Rural Clinical School is based here and provides training for medical students from the University of Queensland. A wide range of services are offered, including, Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Geriatric Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Intensive Care and Anaesthetics.
This hospital is located on the coast of Central Queensland, approximately 600km from Brisbane. There are regular flights to Brisbane which only take one hour. It is one of the oldest cities in Queensland and has a population of over 80,000. It is the industrial and agricultural centre of the north and is also a large tourist destination due to its proximity to the Capricorn Coast.
Along with being a major centre for health, this city is also the main centre on the Central Queensland Coast for education. It has numerous state and private schools, along with the Central Queensland University. If you are looking to get a taste for tropical Australia this is an amazing location to have as a base. This region boasts some of the most pristine beaches found anywhere in the world and is known for being one of the gateways to the Great Barrier Reef.
To be eligible for this role you need to have your FRACP in General Medicine. A sub-specialty qualification or special interest would also be looked upon favourably. We would also be open to receiving applications from substantially comparable candidates.
