Position: Orthopaedic PHO
Location: Coastal QLD
Contract: ASAP - February 2021
Salary: QLD Award + package

The Role:
In this role you will be providing excellent orthopaedic services to the local population. This position is based at the largest referral hospital in the region. It is well supported by senior Orthopaedic Surgeons and other PHOs. This role is ideal for candidates looking for further experience prior to applying for AOA training. As this is a teaching hospital, you will be expected to be involved in teaching for interns, JHOs and medical students. The surgical ward at this hospital has 33 beds and usually has between 5 - 14 Orthopaedic patients at a time. There are 4 operating theatres. The Orthopaedic team manage both complex elective and trauma cases and receive approx. 1500 admissions a year.

The Hospital:
The 200-bed hospital is the main referral centre for the region. It has recently undergone a major redevelopment of approximately $50 million which is provided the hospital with new beds, improved rehabilitation services, a new Emergency Department, Maternity Unit and Special Care Nursery. This hospital provides a wide range of services, including: ICU, Coronary Care, O&G, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, EM, and many others. They also have comprehensive Mental Health and Allied Health services. It is also home to one of the Rural Clinical Schools and is well supported by the two private hospitals in the city.

The Region:
This picturesque and modern city had a population of approximately 45,000. Situated in the heart of the Queensland's sugar fields, this city is also known at the southern gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and is famous for the turtle colony nearby. Just 15 minutes away from this city is the beautiful Coral Coast which is home to stunning beaches that are perfect for swimming, surfing, snorkelling and fishing. With its natural attractions and low cost of living, this city is perfect for families looking for a change from the city. It is only a 45minute flight to Brisbane from this regional city.
