Position: Senior Medical Practitioner - Emergency
Location: South Australia
Salary: Per Award -$160k - $215k + Package
Contract: Full time/Part time 1fte/0.5 options

We are currently recruiting for Senior Medical Practitioners to join a Local Health Network in South Australia. The SMPs are required to work with limited or no supervision and to exercise a high level of professional judgements and clinical competence.

The Location
South Australia is home to long summers, stunning beaches and award-winning wine, events and festivals. It's the gateway to the Barossa, Flinders Ranges and Outback and Kangaroo Island. The city of Adelaide has a diverse cultural mix that guarantees the food is sensational. Here highly awarded fine dining restaurants exist alongside pop up bars and food trucks.

The Hospital
Local Health Network provides care for around 341,000 people living in the northern metropolitan area of Adelaide as well as providing a number of state-wide services, and services to those in regional areas. The SMPs will be working closely with two hospitals and their busy Emergency Departments. Both hospital's ED operates 24-hours a day, providing healthcare to patients who have life threatening and non-lie-threating emergencies. Combined both EDs see approximately 100,000 patients each year, which more than half were urgent presentations. They both provide modern facilities and excellent standards of clinical care, this is a great environment to continue your medical degree. You will be fully supported by an established team of Emergency Specialist, Registrars & other Junior Doctors.

The Position
Requirements
-Responsible for managing the care of all patients allocated to them in the Emergency Department in collaboration with the responsible Resident Medical Officers, Registrars, consultants, Nurses and Allied Health professionals.
-Involved in Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
-Involved with the Strategic Management Planning for the Emergency Department
-Involved in continuing education activities.
-Able to undertake complex duties and/or programme initiation, development and review and/or policy development.
-Responsible for supervision of medical students, Resident Medical Officers and Registrars in the Emergency Department.
Liaises with other divisions and services, with other health providers in the community and hospital sector and with the broader community in the pursuit of comprehensive patient care

Desired Experience:
-Past experience in Emergency Departments in Australia or a comparable health care system
-A sound clinical knowledge of emergency medicine practices in Australia or a comparable health care system
-High level of skill in professional judgement, clinical competence, negotiation and communication in a multidisciplinary setting
-Skill in problem solving and decision making at both the clinical and the individual level
-Demonstrated experience in supervision of junior medical staff
-Wide experience in the management of paediatric and adult emergencies
-Demonstrated experience with complex duties, and/or programme initiation,
-Development and review and/or policy development

To be eligible for this role, you must have:
- Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner.
- Doctors must have at least 5 years' experience working within an Emergency Department.
