Position: Staff Specialist - General Medicine
Location: Hunter New England, NSW
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: NSW Award + package

The Position:
In this role you would be working as part of an established team to provide high quality, comprehensive services to the local community. The existing Medicine team consists of General Medicine Physicians with sub-specialty interests in Endocrinology, Nephrology, Infectious Diseases, Geriatrics, Cardiology and Respiratory. You would be required to participate in the General Medicine on-call roster and regular out-reach clinics to the wider New England area. This hospital is accredited for six months Basic Physician Training and six months Advanced Training in General Medicine, so you would also have to opportunity to be involved in teaching. The General Medicine Consultants are well supported by a junior team of 4 JMOs and 2 BPTs. As this hospital is connected with the University of New England, you would also have the option of a conjoint appointment.

The Hospital:
This hospital is a rural referral centre and has 99 beds, including a 22-bed surgical ward, 3 operating theatres and a 5 bed HDU. It provides a number of services, including, a 24-hour EM, O&G, Orthopaedics, Medicine, Rehab, Paediatrics, General Surgery an Ophthalmology. It is also one of the teaching hospitals for the University of New England.

The Location:
As a town of approximately 25,000 people, it enjoys excellent schools, affordable housing and recreational opportunities. Its smaller population offers people with families a shorter commute and an enjoyable community feeling. This tree lined town is the centre of a wider pastoral area and is the main hub for the region. It is known for its high-quality food and drink as the wider New England region is home to many vineyards.
