This subregional health service, a major provider of health and aged care services are currently recruiting for a Head of Emergency. Serving an immediate population of approximately 42,000, the health service reaches to a wider community for more specialized services such as perinatal services, critical care and surgery.
The acute services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, operating theatres, day procedure unit, and oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and surgical services and sub-acute services including rehabilitation.
The health service has acute campuses; community and home support services are provided throughout. The emergency department has approximately 16,000 attendances per annum with a complexity mix similar to other sub-regional health services in Victoria.
Our client is a friendly rural hospital building their general surgery capability. The hospital has a broad catchment population of 85,000, high capability ICU and 1:4 on-call roster.
The hospital is seeking a Consultant Anaesthetist to join our team of Consultant and GP Anaesthetists working in a high capability rural health service providing safe quality care to patients.
The perioperative unit has three theatres with adjoining day procedure unit. Surgical specialities include General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Endoscopy, Paediatric surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Urology, minor Orthopaedics, IVF and Dental.
Non-surgical specialist services include on-site pathology and medical imaging (including CT and MRI), oncology, haematology, renal dialysis, aged care and rehabilitation, respiratory and sleep medicine, cardiology, infectious diseases, paediatrics, dermatology and vascular.
The anaesthetic service also provides preadmission clinics, support to the General Physician led 6 bed ICU/CCU, emergency Codes and MET calls and post-graduate teaching with two JCCA accredited GP anaesthetic registrar training posts.
Applications will have:
o Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
" Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetics (FANZCA)
" Demonstrate a high level of clinical and leadership capability and experience or potential to assume Head of Unit responsibilities
" Undertake teaching and educational responsibilities within the Department and the Hospital
