Position: General Medicine Advanced Trainee
Salary: as per State Award
Contract: 12 months from February 2019
We are currently arranging interviews for a General Medicine Advanced Trainee to become part of the largest health facility in NSW outside the Sydney-Wollongong-Newcastle metropolitan areas.
As an Advanced Trainee in this hospital, you will complete one year in General Medicine, and a second year of two six-month rotations in a subspecialty term including neurology/stroke medicine, endocrinology, nephrology, medical oncology, cardiology, respiratory, gastroenterology/hepatology, endocrinology, rheumatology, intensive care, and emergency medicine.
The Advanced Trainee will be responsible for/involved in:
" The assessment, review and ongoing management of general medicine patients.
" Participation in the general medicine overtime roster and on-call work as required.
" Participation in departmental quality activities including clinical trials, research, and peer review and audit projects.
" Providing supervision and teaching of junior doctors and medical students.
" Attending and participate any relevant continuing education opportunities including Grand Rounds, educational meetings, morbidity and mortality meetings, journal clubs and other relevant activities.
" Balancing training and education requirements with service provision, within the limitations of a busy public health service.
This hospital is a 361-bed inpatient facility with 66 designated medical beds and a 24-hour emergency department. It provides high level surgical and medical services, including, intensive care, coronary care, rehabilitation services, mental health unit, renal services, paediatrics, maternity, rheumatology, oncology, radiology and pathology. It currently employs both full-time and part-time staff, many volunteers as well as assisting nursing and allied health students to gain invaluable rural health experience.

To be eligible for this role, you must have:
" Current Registration with AHPRA
" Eligibility for Advanced Training in General and Acute Care Medicine, RACP, by successful completion of both written and clinical examinations.
