Contract: 12months, February 2019
We are currently recruiting for a major teaching hospital in Tasmania for basic physician trainees to enter their BPT3 year and other applications who wish to have training in general medicine to supplement their training in another discipline e.g. Emergency medicine, General Practice, ICU, to meet their career goals.
The Hospital has training positions in all the subspecialties, including General Medicine, a number of which are linked to interstate training programs. Opportunities for rotation into other subspecialties at general medical registrar level are limited, although rotation into cardiology may be offered in 2019.
The largest hospital in the region and a major teaching hospital which provides a comprehensive range of general and speciality medical and surgical services including cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, extensive burns treatment, hyperbaric medicine, neonatal and paediatric intensive care and high risk obstetrics. It provides a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week emergency department, and critical care comprises a 14-bed combined Intensive Care Unit. The hospital provides services for all of southern Tasmania and has the capacity to facilitate 400 patients. Many statewide services such as cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, major trauma, high-risk obstetrics, hyperbaric medicine and neonatal intensive care are based at the Hospital, with referrals coming in from the north and northwest.
The Registrar is responsible for the day to day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients within the Hospital and provides after-hours emergency cover at the hospital as determined by the Medical Workforce Unit. It is a fixed 12 month contract, full time work consisted of 80 hours per fortnight with the option of extension to 24 months.

To be eligible for this opportunity, you must have:
-An Australian MBBS medical degree, or equivalent
-General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
