Salary - $100k - $120k + package

Contract - 12 months starting from Feb 2019
This coastal region of Queensland is lucky enough to experience 300+ days of sunshine per year. Situated on the coral coastline you can spend your downtime exploring the Great Barrier Reef and all that this beautiful region has to offer.
We have opportunities available for ACEM trainees as well as non-accredited ED posts. Suitable candidates will have existing AHPRA registration or will be eligible through the Competent Authority Pathway with clinical experience gained in the UK, Ireland USA, Canada or New Zealand.
This Hospital has recently gained accreditation for training in emergency medicine as well as being accredited for training in general surgery, anaesthetics, intensive care, general medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology and psychiatry.
The Hospital is a 305-bed facility and is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland, now providing integrated cancer care services in Central Queensland in the newly established building boasting state of the art medical equipment.
Specialist Medical Services offered at the Hospital include Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Geriatric Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Intensive Care and Anaesthetics. There are also a range of clinical services provided on a visiting basis from tertiary hospitals in Queensland.
The Emergency Department has approximately 47,000 attendances each year with an admission rate of 25%. dealing with the full spectrum of Emergency Care with trauma and resuscitation a core component of our work along with the management of routine Emergency/ Urgent patient presentations. They have strong and innovative clinical practice with ongoing development of point of care clinical ultrasound, procedural sedation, non-invasive and invasive ventilation, toxicological and toxinological practices.
The Department is staffed with Staff Specialists and Senior Medical Officers on a double shift pattern each day with suitable on call arrangements. With 9.5 FACEMS, 5 FACRRMS and 0.75 SMO FTE. Provide 16-hour FACEM/SMO cover with low threshold for the on-call SMO to come in when needed.
Day, evening and night shifts are established on a team basis with clear lines of responsibility and decision-making through the senior clinician. They have ACEM Fellowship, ACRRM, ACEM certificate and Diploma trainees.
