We are currently arranging interviews for a General Medicine Registrar at a public hospital in rural Victoria.This health service is a leading rural health service which provides a specialists services in acute, subacute, primary and residential aged care. Holding a population of approximately 54000, the ED has an average of 15,000 attendances per annum in an 11 bed unit, including two resuscitation beds.
The Hospital has an average of 12,500 admissions and 4,600 operations annually. It has a modern and recently renovated emergency department, theatre complex, including a day procedure unit, a five-bed intensive care unit, and high-quality emergency department and ward facilities.
The position requires a medical registrar, there are three General Medical Units - each Unit has a Consultant Physician, Medical Registrar and Medical Intern attached, and provides comprehensive care for chronic and complex medical presentations to the Hospital.
The Medical Registrar role has a rotating roster through day shift allocated to one of the Units, night shift Ward and Emergency Department cover and evening intake shift conducting initial assessment of medical patients presenting to the ED, Medical Unit admissions and evening Ward cover. This is a great opportunity for exposure to a wide range of medical presentations in a well-supported environment.
This opportunity is located in a city on banks of the Wimmera River and is a hub for the local agricultural industry. Located near the Grampians National park, this city offers easy access to both nature and local history.
- MBBS or equivalent degree
- Full general registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- A minimum of two years postgraduate experience of which a minimum of 12 months should be in Australian hospitals
- Evidence of Advanced Life Support (ALS) course completed or enrolled to complete
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
