We are currently working with the new hospital in Darwin that are looking to employ a Rehabilitation Consultant on a permanent contract starting as soon as possible. The Salary is negotiable depending on experience.

The rehabilitation services at the Darwin Hospital (RDH) are expanding & in 2018 will move to new facilities at the new Palmerston Regional Hospital. If you are interested in working with a dedicated service which is expanding, are willing to help develop these services, are up for a few challenges & want a new experience then please get in touch. The Royal Darwin Hospital currently employs 2 Rehabilitation Consultants, 2 advanced AFRM trainees & has a dedicated level 4 multi-disciplinary inpatient & outpatient rehabilitation service. A new 116 bed regional hospital 20 minutes from RDH is being built & will open in 2018. The whole service will move to a purpose built facility along with the Geriatric service. The combined subacute services will be expanded to two 24 bed wards. The position will be suitable for an AFRM Fellow & all applications will be considered.

Currently the service has an 18 bed general rehabilitation ward dealing with a wide case mix of adult rehabilitation. This ranges from stroke/neurological, amputee, brain injury, spinal cord injury, orthopaedic & multiple trauma. There is extensive exposure to the Indigenous culture & opportunities for Outreach clinics. Outpatient clinics cover prosthetics/orthotics, chronic pain & brain injury. The multidisciplinary rehabilitation service is based within the hospital campus. The consultant position supervises advanced trainees & RMO's. The Royal Darwin Hospital has 360 beds & is well supported by a large range of specialties & junior medical officer teaching. GEM beds are collocated in the same ward. The National Critical Care & Trauma Response Centre is also based here.

The Northern Territory is a fascinating place to visit with many National Parks to explore & Asia just a short trip away. Assistance with accommodation & relocation can be provided. On campus there is access to amenities including squash courts, gymnasium & pool. If you are interested please contact me on 02 8248 2980 or
