Global Medics is currently recruiting a Temporary Consultant Otolaryngologist with a special interest in Paediatric Otolaryngology to start immediately in a Hospital in Dublin. This consultant will be required to be registered with the Irish Medical Council or be eligible to be registered and have 1 year certified postgraduate training in paediatric airways Otolaryngology. They will also be required to have experience in all aspects of Paediatric Otolaryngology and in particular have Paediatric airways experience.
Duties to include:
(a) Act as Temporary Consultant Otolaryngologist with a special interest in Paediatric Otolaryngology
(b) Provide ward rounds, out-patient clinics and operative surgical lists
(c) Adhere to the Standard Duties and Responsibilities (Section12a - l) as detailed in the Consultant Contract 2008.
(d) Provide such service commitments and specific duties as detailed in the Health Service Executive letter of approval for this post.
(e) The appointee will assist in the development of the Department of Paediatric Otolaryngology and participate in the provision and administration/future development of the Paediatric Otolaryngology services for patients
(f) Work within the Clinical Directorate structure
(g) Participate in the Consultant Paediatric Otolaryngology on-call rota and provide cross cover for fellow Consultants as appropriate during annual leave, sick leave or other approved absences.
(h) Be involved in research in paediatric otolaryngology either directly or in consultation.
(i) Staff are required to attend certain compulsory courses which are relevant to their profession.
(j) Engage in Continuing Medical Education.
(k) Maintain good communication channels with all levels of staff throughout the hospital and assist the Public Relations / Communications Officer(s) in relation to any media request pertaining to your profession/area in consultation with the Chief Executive.
(l) Organise and participate in teaching, including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and conference commitments of the department and of the hospital for medical, nursing and other staff.
(m) Maintain a programme of continuing medical education and update him/herself in service technological and other advances applicable to the responsibilities of the post. In addition, staff members are required to attend certain compulsory courses relevant to their profession.
(n) Plan, develop and maintain responsibility for clinical audit programmes within the department in conjunction with consultant colleagues and in accordance with the clinical governance structures
(o) Participate in the Casemix and Activity Based Funding Programmes
(p) Attend and participate in meetings relevant to the post, e.g. Medical Board and appropriate division.
(q) Liaise with the Chief Executive, Group Chief Executive, Group Clinical Director, Clinical Director, Director of Nursing, Director of Operational Services, Management Team, relevant senior Medical and Nursing staff and other staff in all matters pertaining to the general efficiency
(r) Perform such other duties appropriate to his/her office as may be assigned to him/her from time to time by the Clinical Director/Chief Executive or their designated officer
