Based in the regional city and 2 hours' drive north of Melbourne this hospital caters for the 160,000 people in its region. The hospital is a 300-bed acute and extended care facility which provides emergency surgical, medical, paediatric, obstetrics and gynaecology, intensive care and psychiatry services as well as extended care and regional services. As well as its main site in it has two smaller sites in the nearby towns with acute and aged care beds. The Health service also has an affiliation with the local universities.
This city boasts a diversity of cultural, outdoor and sporting activities seldom found anywhere else. Located only two hours north of Melbourne, the area features magnificent food and wine, glorious weather and all the attractions and activities you could imagine in a regional city.
The Emergency Physician role will provide Clinical leadership over the delivery of the Service in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager to ensure optimal outcomes to patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
You will provide specialist emergency medical care, which may involve interaction with other health specialists and be expected to ensure smooth patient flow for patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
Your role will be to supervise the work of Registrars and Junior Medical Officers (JMO's) and will involve in teaching both junior doctors and medical students. The Emergency Physician will be required to provide some services out of hours, including some weekends.
As a member of the Clinical Governance you will contribute to the overall strategic planning and improvement of the quality of clinical care and service delivery provided to Health consumers. This position amongst others is responsible for promoting Health as a quality of the regional health service provider.
Applications will have:
1) Australian citizen or permanent resident, or eligible for sponsorship as a permanent resident.
2) Current authority to practice as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) / Medical Board of Australia, or eligibility for same.
3)Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award or other specialist recognition
4)Demonstrated technical and professional competence as a Consultant Emergency Medicine Specialist, and in the specialty practice of Emergency Medicine, with clinical hospital experience.
5)Demonstrated participation in, and commitment to quality assurance activities relevant to speciality; and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
