Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon
$170 - $250,000 plus package depending experience
Location: Darwin, Northern Territory
Darwin offers a unique experience with complex pathology not seen elsewhere in Australia, it has a busy emergency department with many acute presentations, including a high burden of trauma. There is a full range of surgical specialties apart from cardiac surgery, (Neurosurgery commenced March 2017); a comprehensive cancer service, with many head and neck cancer cases doing combined work with the Plastics Unit, as well as some complex ortho-plastics caseload. The Burns unit is run through General Surgery, but welcomes input from Plastic Surgery.
The hospital currently has a service comprising two Plastic Consultants, a Fellow and two unaccredited Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery trainees, supported by a Resident medical officer. We are seeking to expand this service with the appointment of a third Consultant Surgeon. This position will initially be 1.0 FTE appointment (38 hrs per week), with shared on-call roster and opportunities to develop private practice. The appointee should have FRACS.
