We are currently arranging interviews for Career Medical Officers - Emergency Department a hospital in NSW. This position will provide first line medical care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department of the Hospital, including assessment, investigation, treatment and referral for ongoing non-inpatient care. The role of the Career Medical Officer is to provide high quality of clinical care to patients attending the Emergency Department through their well-developed theoretical knowledge, practical skills, communication and negotiation skills.
Career Medical Officer is required to carry out the following duties:
-Ensure that patients are seen to the best of your abilities within the triage benchmarks set and that patient management is based on best practice.
-Ensure a comprehensive handover of all patients at each shift change.
-Assist senior staff in the administration of the Emergency Department.
-Ensure all documentation is accurate and detailed especially in respect to time seen, diagnosis and time discharged/transferred.
-Complete or assist as requested with the completion of legal and police reports on patients seen.
-Ensure that all invasive procedures are appropriately and properly completed. Where Clinically necessary or in accordance with local protocols, contact admitting VMOs and other Consultants to obtain guidance on and assistance with immediate care of patients.
-Liaise with staff of medical retrieval services and clinical and administrative staff of hospitals to which patients are to be transferred.

This hospital and health service is a 29 bed facility, an acute care public hospital providing general medical, surgical and specialist services. Some of these services include acute, maternity, renal, community health, dental and allied health services. Some of the community health services include early childhood immunisation, women's health, cardiac rehabilitation and wound management. The hospital services an area of about 36,000 people, and many more in the wider regions. This hospital has a small 24-hour operating accident and emergency department located next to a major trauma Hospital in Southern NSW. In the last 10 years, the hospital has undergone a major redevelopment of the facilities which included the construction of a new hospital building.

To be eligible for this role, you should either;
- Demonstrated experience working in an Emergency Department.
- Experience in an emergency department with at least 12 months experience.
- PGY4 + Hold AHPRA General registration and have local Australian clinical experience, or;
- Have medical experience competent authority country.
