We are looking for a full-time SPECIALITY DOCTOR to support two Consultant Psychiatrists within a 48 bed Low and Medium Secure Unit catering for both male and female adults with Learning Disabilities.
Located in the East of England at the Norfolk/Suffolk border - The unit provides quality, specialised treatment and care of adults with learning disabilities where their needs challenge mainstream service provision.
All patients are detained under the Mental Health Act.
Some of the patients have a history of offending behaviour and secondary diagnoses of other conditions including:
- Personality disorders
- Asperger syndrome
- Other autistic spectrum disorders
At this unit, patients are encouraged to develop their skills in a community setting and individual programmes will vary dependent on patients' needs as they progress through medium secure to low secure and then to a step down service including continuing care / community rehabilitation.
Patients are also supported to participate in the on-site or community-based "Real Work Opportunities Programme" including employment and voluntary placements.
Provided for patients is a range of on-site facilities and activities which include:

- Vegetable gardens
- A hairdressing salon
- Animal care
- A gym
- Horticulture areas
- Woodwork shops
We are looking for someone who...
- Is fully GMC registered (or has registration in process)
- Has any previous experience in Psychiatry (Essential)
- Has completed a formal Psychiatry Rotation Scheme
- MRCPsych (NOT essential but desirable)
