Acute Physician - Consultant

This is an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking consultant to play a major role in leading as well as developing a novel system of integrated emergency care.
The appointees will join the existing Acute Physicians in the Department of Acute Medicine. Cross site work may be required.

Specialists in AIM or GIM recognised by GMC or with equivalent experience in other countries are eligible to apply. We would also consider an experienced consultant who wishes to take on a clinical lead role as well. Appropriate office accommodation, secretarial support and IT support will be provided.

The post holder will work across our Acute Medicine department on the Medical or Acute Assessment Unit (MAU/AAU), the Short Stay Unit and the Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU). The MAU/AAU sees, assesses and treats patients in our acute unselected medical take. Ambulatory care is overseen by a consultant and staffed by specialty doctors and by advanced nurse practitioners, Short Stay Ward receives medical patients likely to be discharged within 72 hours of admission and achieves a high turnover of patients per day.
