In this role you can be part of a small team where you can truly practice general medicine and enjoy the challenges of general medicine in a rural community. You are guaranteed to make a true difference in the community you are working with.
The base hospital for the District Health Board is a well appointed general hospital providing services to a catchment area of 33,000 people. You will also be working closely with affiliated physicians from another hospital as part of the Transalpine health services. The role includes acute services, in-patient and out-patient responsibilities as well as the supervision and training of Rural Hospital Medicine Registrars, House Officers and medical students.
The hospital environment is supportive and friendly and our staff work in dedicated teams with a lot of interdependence. This role would see you working closely with other physicians, general surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, rural hospital medicine generalists and obstetrics and gynaecologists, as well as local general practitioners.
