A central North Island Hospital has vacancies for Emergency Medicine Consultants (FACEM or equivalent). They are significantly increasing their compliment of doctors and nurses in ED to support improved patient flow through our 600 bed tertiary hospital, and enhance the service to our patients.
Their Emergency department is the major regional referral and trauma centre for the region with a catchment population of over 800,000 people. They see approximately 76,000 patients per year with a broad case-mix of presentations from paediatrics to geriatrics, medicine to trauma – there is no aspect of emergency medical care we do not provide. Acuity is high with a 36% admission rate.
The successful candidates must be fellows of the Australasian College for Emergency medicine (ACEM), or hold an equivalent specialist qualification in Emergency Medicine and be eligible to apply for vocational registration as an emergency physician in New Zealand.
