Global Medics Australia has been supplying locum doctors to leading public and private hospitals and clinics for primary care, acute, specialty services and mental health jobs in Australia for the past nine years. We are one of a very few approved recruitment agencies to be able to offer direct 457 visa sponsorship for up to four years to doctors that have general or specialist AHPRA registration.
The majority of overseas trained doctors start their careers in Australia on 12 month fixed term contracts with employer (hospital or GP clinic) sponsored 457 visas, which restrict them to working for the same hospital or clinic and prevent them from doing locum work elsewhere.
A key benefit for overseas trained doctors working with Global Medics as their employer is the ability to get direct sponsorship for a 457 visa and becoming a full time locum. In addition, after two years on a 457 visa, you are able to apply for the employer nominated permanent residence visa. Working as a full time locum doctor in Australia entitles you to many benefits including:
- Lucrative hourly or daily locum rates
- Working in different city and rural locations
- Exposure to different types of medicine and patient presentations
- Flights and accommodation are typically included in locum jobs
- Opportunity to travel the country and take your family along with you
For more information regarding direct 457 visa sponsorship with Global Medics Australia contact us at +61 2 8248 2900.

– Nuclear Medicine
– General X-ray
– Women’s health

Shortages are even more significant in rural regions and less popular metropolitan suburbs, where extra incentives are offered to attract international specialists. Many private practices now have state-of-the-art scanners and are using them much more widely, increasing the need for Radiologists and Radiographers even further.
Benefits for Radiologists working in Australia include:

– Locum daily rates up to $3,000 depending on the location.
– Generous and flexible annual leave.
– Professional development leave and allowances.
– Excellent work-life balance, including a guaranteed 43-hour working week, usually five of those hours are protected for teaching, research or management duties
– Large choice of jobs in city and rural locations.

Global Medics is a leading staffing supplier of locum and permanent Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Psychiatrists to the National Health Service (NHS) and independent health establishments throughout the United Kingdom for the past 14 years.
The market has evolved over the past few years with an increase demand for CAMHS Psychiatrists throughout the UK to cover Tier 3 Outpatient and Tier 4 Inpatient services. The Royal College of Psychiatrists surveyed 576 trainees working in psychiatry across the UK, 70% advised they had experienced difficulty in finding an appropriate bed for a patient at least once, the figure increased to 83% among Specialists working in child and adolescent services.
The shortage of beds across mental health services in the UK are forcing doctors to send patients miles away from their homes or section them to boost their chances of securing a bed. At the same time providers have reported increased waiting times for CAMHS services and increased referral thresholds with only the most severely affected young people getting appointments.
Due to these factors there is a high demand for CAMHS Psychiatrists across the UK for permanent and locum jobs ranging from 2 weeks to 12 months within the NHS and independent health establishments in city and rural locations.
Through our global reach and international network, Global Medics has assisted hundreds of CAMHS Psychiatrists secure their ideal locum job or permanent role in the UK. Global Medics is the leading agency in Ireland for supplying experienced Anaesthetists to the Health Service Executive (HSE) and private facilities throughout Ireland since 2006.
The anaesthetics market in Ireland has evolved over the past few years for a number of factors, including the standardisation of hourly and salary pay rates, an increased requirement of locum and fixed term salaried roles and the introduction of the EU Working Time Directive program. These factors have caused a spike for the demand of anaesthetics doctors in Ireland for both locum and fixed term salaried jobs.
The future is very optimistic in the Irish anaesthetics locum and fixed term salaried job market. Global Medics United Kingdom is a leading staffing supplier to the NHS for the past 14 years, and a specialist supplier of experienced locum Anaesthetists and Intensivists to the NHS.
The transformation of the anaesthetics locum job market over the past few years has been due to doctors specialising in anaesthetics or critical care which has created a short term locum job market that didn’t exist within anaesthetics previously. This is also combined with the European Working Time Directive putting pressure on NHS hospital rota-coordinators with filling rotas within their hospital.
Previously most anaesthetic locum doctors would have had a choice of long term locum jobs until a substantive role became available in the NHS. The situation has changed with the dawn of the “career locum” who is gaining experience working across a number of NHS hospitals filling rota gaps and in turn gaining valuable experience in different anaesthetics or critical care environments with little intention of working substantively.
There is currently a demand for locum Anaesthetists and Intensivists in the UK for locum jobs ranging from two days to six months within city and regional hospitals for the following sub-specialties:
